Kadet Remaja Sekolah (KRS) telah ditubuhkan dan diasaskan oleh En Thani bin Syaaban di Sekolah Menengah Raja Abdullah, Kuala Lumpur pada 27 Jun 1987. Pada mulanya pasukan ini dikenali sebagai Kadet Putera Islam Malaysia (KPIM) yang merupakan pasukan beruniform kepada Persatuan Pelajar-pelajar Islam SMRA (PERWIRA). Keahliannya seramai 20 orang sahaja iaitu terdiri daripada pelajar tingkatan 1 dan 2. Matlamat utama penubuhannya ialah untuk melahirkan pelajar cemerlang yang BERILMU, BERIMAN dan BERAMAL, berakhlak mulia, bersemangat patriotik, berketerampilan selaras dengan usaha dan hasrat mengisi tuntutan Falsafah Pendidikan NEGARA ke arah Wawasan 2020
